Maple Caramel Bacon Crack Bites
Ingredients:
- 1 pound sliced bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar, divided
- 1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon pieces until almost crispy. Drain the excess fat.
- Return the bacon to the skillet and add the maple syrup and 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the bacon is coated in a sticky caramel-like mixture. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Roll out the crescent roll dough on the prepared baking sheet, pressing together any seams to form a single layer.
- Spread the caramelized bacon evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of brown sugar and chopped pecans if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before cutting into bite-sized pieces.
The Maple Caramel Bacon Crack Bites are best enjoyed warm, offering a delightful contrast of sweet maple caramel and salty bacon.
